We've released our first node.js web application, hosted on Heroku - the CD Early Withdrawal Calculator. The calculator is a quick and easy way to calculate the interest rate and early withdrawal penalty on a CD.

The project initially began as a simple Excel spreadsheet for comparing various CD rates, while including their penalties for early withdrawal. The idea is to gain a higher rate of return, while retaining liquidity in the form of breaking the CD early, thus minimizing risk and providing opportunity for higher interest rates. The Excel spreadsheet has been converted into a full web application, using the technology stack of Node.js, Javascript, Jade, Twitter Bootstrap, and hosting on a Heroku cloud server.
